Veteran comedian and former motsetserepa, Ashifashabba, not “a likely person to play golf”
THE launch of the 2024 Polokwane City Marathon and the Annual Mayoral Charity Golf Day was never short of laughter and funny moments.
Veteran comedian, Ashifashabba, directed the programme at the ceremony held at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium’s executive lounge.
In his typical hilarious way, he left the attendees in stitches, and did not spare Polokwane executive mayor, John Mpe, and Limpopo Health MEC, Phophi Ramathuba, of his jokes.
However, it was on the turn of Mpe and Ramathuba to speak that the tables turned on him – he became the subject of jokes.
It was then that Mpe made it known Ashifashabba is referred in road running circles as former motsetserepa (a physically well-toned person). It was said that he is now known as bumba (an uneven round-built person).
Ramathuba spoke about certain chemicals in the body that are activated by physical exercises and help bring mental balance, amongst others.
She jokingly said Ashifashabba was not a likely person to play golf because “they don’t want loud people there … It must be quite on the golf course”.
It was said radio personality, BK Matewe, was known as “The Bus” because he also help athletes that have ran out of steam during marathons. However, the bus itself sometimes run out of fuel along the way.
