Son sentenced to life in prison for killing mom to feed his drug habit

A 33-year old Limpopo man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for stabbing his mother to death for money to feed his drug habit.

On 9 November 2020, Lefa Bruno Kekana attacked his mother, Angelina Kekana (61), at their home in Lebowakgomo Zone S, demanding money.

He stabbed her several times on the upper body before leaving her for dead inside the house. He left with an undisclosed amount of money.

The body of his mother was later found by relatives who alerted the police.

This week, the son was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder and 15 years for robbery in the Thabamoopo Regional Court. The sentences will run concurrently.
