Two days of horror in Limpopo| Man kills mom and carries body in a wheelbarrow whilst husband hacks wife to death
A 42-year old man killed his mother and carried the body in a wheelbarrow whilst a husband hacked the wife to death in separate incidents in Limpopo in the past two days.
According to provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, neighbours heard the man shouting and hurling insults at his mother at Mamaila village in the Sekgosese area. He later called one of the neighbours to come and see what he was carrying in a wheelbarrow.
“Upon checking, it was discovered that he was carrying a lifeless body of his mother. Community members mobilized themselves and immediately attacked the suspect,” Mashaba said.
He said the man was rescued by police and was rushed to the hospital where he was placed under police guard.
The mother was identified as Mamaila Moloi Matele (69).
In Tshivaloni village near Masisi, a 36-year old woman, Nkhetheni Mudau, died after she was hacked allegedly by her husband following a heated argument.
“Police preliminary investigation into the incident revealed that the victim and her husband had a heated conversation in their house. After a moment, a woman was heard crying and screaming. Later that day, she was found dead,” Mashaba said.
The two incidents were condemned by the Rev Tshenuwani Farisani Foundation which called for a serious mind change in community structures, men, women and the justice system.
“The adage ‘I’m my brother’s keeper’ now becomes a reality when a nation is faced with this type of killings everyday,” foundation’s patron, Dr Tshenuwani Farisani, said.
