A R200m psychiatric hospital set for construction in Polokwane
A R200 million psychiatric hospital is set for construction in Polokwane, Limpopo, to enhance private mental healthcare and capacity in the province.
The new facility – a brainchild of Netcare Akeso and two local doctors Rhulani Khosa and Peters Mathebula – will in the first phase comprise 87 beds for inpatients admissions, including 15 adolescent beds, and 18 consulting rooms.
Construction of the facility by Networth Group is expected to commence mid-May and will take 16 months to complete.
At a sod-turning ceremony in Polokwane on Thursday, Polokwane executive mayor, John Mpe, said the project will contribute positively to the development of the city.
“It is for this reason that Polokwane always strives to attract investment and spread a message that this city is under construction. We will pull all stops to ensure that the environment in Polokwane is conducive for business to thrive,” he said.
