Father kills son with a spade, 35-year old man shoots partner several times in Limpopo
A 58-year old man appeared in the Dzanani magistrate court in Limpopo on Tuesday for killing his son with a spade after a domestic dispute.
Moses Tshigomana was arrested last Thursday after he had an altercation with his 33-year old son at Mauluma village in the Nzhelele valley.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, said police arrived on the scene and found the suspect outside the house. The police were informed by family members that he had been fighting with his son, whom he allegedly hacked with a spade.
The son was found inside the house with a deep wound on the head, and was certified dead on the scene.
Tshigomana was remanded in custody until 4 September 2024.
In Ramotshinyadi village in the Mopani district, a 35-year old man was arrested after he shot and killed his partner on Monday.
According to the police, the suspect went to the victim’s parental residence, and found her at a neighbour’s house. He produced a gun and shot her several times before fleeing the scene.
The suspect was later arrested and is expected to appear in court on Wednesday, 21 August 2024.
Provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has since condemned gender-based violence (GBV). The province recorded several GBV cases in the past week.
“The recent incidents of gender-based violence in our province are shocking and unacceptable. We cannot tolerate a society where the vulnerable are preyed upon and harmed,” Hadebe said.
