51-year old man arrested after discovery of a missing girl’s body at Khalavha plantation in Limpopo

Limpopo police have arrested a man suspected to be behind the brutal murder of a 15-year old girl reported missing in Khalavha, Vhembe region, on Monday.

The naked body was discovered at Khalavha plantation at about 7:30 am on Tuesday with injuries on the upper body that suggested she had been raped.

According to police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, preliminary investigation revealed that the girl was last seen driving with a 51-year old suspect on Monday.  She never returned home.

“The search operation was immediately activated, but the missing girl was not found. The next day, Tuesday 12 November 2024, her naked body was found in the Khalavha bushes (plantation) with injuries on her body that suggested she had been raped,” Ledwaba said.

The suspect is due to appear in the Thohoyandou magistrate court on Thursday facing a charge of murder.

Ledwaba said more charges may be added as further investigations unfold.
