Education MEC moves to address infrastructure challenges affecting admission of over 770 learners in Lephalale
LIMPOPO Education MEC, Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya, on Thursday moved to address the infrastructure challenges that have so far left more than 770 learners out of the school system in Lephalale.
Lerule-Ramakhanya visited the area that each year faces admission challenges due to lack of space in schools.
She announced that 28 mobile classrooms from Eskom will be delivered to the area.
In addition, the private sector has pledged to build three schools to address the annual admission crisis due to migration patterns, amongst other factors. The local municipality has already set aside land for the construction of the schools.
Lerule-Ramakhanya said the department was not expecting admission challenges in the area following the intervention.
“We are here today to inspect the schools that have been knocking requesting for intervention as they have hundreds of learners that are still out of the system.
“The mobiles in the interim will assist, but they are temporary. Our partnership with the private sector will come very handy in ensuring that we find a lasting solution, she said.
